OK, for my first venture outside of a theme for my blog I decided to add a photo gallery. Upon investigating some resources on the web I came across a great little Flash Tool called PictoBrowser. This flash tool works with your Flickr account and will load images to your web page with any media set you create on Flickr.
Listed on the left menu under pages you will see my photo album in action. You can also click here to goto the web page.
Here is how I created my photo album:
-
Create a Flickr account at
http://www.flickr.com/ it is free and can also be associated with your yahoo.com account
-
Upload the photos you want to use on your web blog site
-
Create a "set" that will hold your images (this is what is called by the widget)
-
-
Enter your Flickr Screen name
-
Pick your picture set
-
Do not worry about the options
-
Copy the code to notepad
-
Add a new page to your web blog and call it Photos or whatever you want
-
Click on the insert/embed media icon (looks like a film strip)
-
Type= Flash
-
-
Dimensions= 650x550 (this works best for the StableStart Theme)
-
Select the [advance tag]
-
Now go back to notepad where you copied your code from PictoBrowser website
-
Find the <embed></embed> tags
-
Under there you will see FlashVars="....." copy everything under the FlashVars attribute and in between the two quotes
-
Paste this code into the "Flashvars" textbox under the [advanced] tab of the insert/embed window
-
You can select a background color at this point and try some other options if you want
-
Select [insert]
-
[Save] you page
You should now have an embedded Flickr photo album for you Web Blog!
Anytime you want to update the photos on your album you simply log onto your Flickr.com account and add photos to the media set you created in step 3.
Have a great day
